quilt show weekend // three of three

see post one of three, here.
see post two of three, here.

in this third post about the maine state quilt show, i'll just share briefly the fun finds i walked away with. i was on a very limited budget (i had saved up a bit from my last two paychecks). i had been a good girl lately and not bought any new fabric for months, in anticipation of all of the wonderful vendors at this show.

i knew i had some of anna maria horner's loulouthi on my must-find list. other than that, i wasn't looking for anything particular; but i was really pleased with what i found - some fabrics for a new project (see below), yardage(!!) of neptune, and whole slew of fat quarters & half yards of some great prints. i'm really pleased with what i got for staying in my budget - i passed up a whole bunch of katie jump rope at decent prices!!
one of the vendors had a few bolts of some neptune fabrics, including this one (which was one of my favorites!)... i decided to pick up three yards, since it was at regular retail price and i was pretty sure i wouldn't be able to do that again any time in the future!

i was inspired by this quilt i saw at the show, i really loved the colorway. i decided i'd like to pull a few fabrics to make something for myself - most likely a log cabin quilt. i had that in mind while shopping and was able to pick up a few blender fabrics to toss into the stacks. i'm on the lookout for one or two more coral / peach fabrics to keep it from looking too red & aqua. i definitely want it more coral & teal....

and finally, courtesy of my mother, i came home with a huge stack of awesome books to start my preparation for the sewing workshop i'll be hosting in september. i hope to have some great inspiration for everyone to paw through, as well as some patterns for beginners. (my mom has so many awesome quilting books, i was glad to steal some! i never have to buy any!) i do have a stack of my own that i'll be including as well.
i hope everyone has been having a good weekend - other than all of this excitement, mine has also been full of learning to parallel park (i go for my driver's test --finally-- in a week! eek!), tending to my garden, cleaning up the apartment, and spending some time with the boyfriend. i hope to get a little bit of sewing done this afternoon, too!

see you all soon!
